What a wonderful four days we had with 16 children at the Scripture Union and Penicuik Churches Together Holiday Club!

 

 

The team were as excited as the children to hear the story of King David and King Jesus. On the first day we heard how God chose David to be king.

 

He did not look on the outward appearance but instead looked at his heart and knew what David was really like.

 

 

The second day we saw David kill the Giant Goliath even though he was just a young teenager.

 

 

The third day brought us the story of David stealing another man's wife and then committing murder. When he finally realised his sin and repented, God forgave him.

 

 

Although David had to live with the consequences we saw on the last day, that God promised David his throne would go on forever.

 

 

King Jesus, the Son of God, was born of David's line, who forgives us all our sins when we come to him truly sorry for all that we have done wrong in our lives.

The drama ran alongside the Bible story depicting Perceval the Brave or sometimes not so brave, who had to learn how to kill a dragon with the help of his King and all the people around him.

 

 

The message of the week was that God knows exactly what each one of us is like on the inside, but he loves us despite that and helps us to conquer the giants and the dragons in our lives, so wants us to come to him and ask him for help.
